Residence Life Association (RLA)
OU’s Residence Life Association (RLA) is an organization of students living in the residence halls and apartments who provide a voice for residents, and promote community among the various complexes. RLA assists community councils in developing better living communities and creating programs and events where students can interact in a diverse setting on campus.
Vision
The Residence Life Association is designed to be an educational experience for those who participate. For students engaged in planning and coordinating Residence Life Association activities, the experience is intended to foster and develop the qualities of leadership, management and cooperation, which when carried out in accordance with the goals of Oakland University, place the activity in the realm of co-curricular activities.

Doomsday Shelter Comedy live in Vandenberg Dining Hall
January 5, 7 p.m.
Doomsday Shelter Comedy for Mental Health promotes a message of community and positive mental health. Learn about Doomsday Shelter Comedy, its founders, and the upcoming show below!
Laughter isn’t just the best medicine; it’s the antidote to despair and a bridge to better things. Join Doomsday Shelter Comedy for Mental Health on Friday, January 5, at 7 p.m., at Vandenberg Dining Hall for a night of life, laughter, a brief discussion on the role humor plays in mental health, and a preview of the upcoming book “Sunshine and Scars: How Comedy Kills Depression.”
Doomsday Shelter Comedy for Mental Health was established in 2020 by comedians Jason Fylan-Mares and Amanda Fylan as a refuge from the daily stresses of a world gone mad. Three years later, as the most successful independent comedy company in Michigan, Doomsday Shelter produces live comedy shows with a positive mental health message without being too preachy; at Doomsday Shelter, the laughter is the sermon, and the audience is the congregation.
Joining Jason and Amanda are comedians Jason Jamerson and Brad Wenzel.
- A ten-year comedy veteran, Jason Jamerson’s debut comedy special “Pastor Might Sit Me Down” earned rave reviews and has made him one of Michigan’s most sought-after headliners.
- Brad Wenzel is a nationally touring headliner with three performances on Conan and recent appearances on Netflix is a Joke radio. Brad’s debut comedy album, Sweet Nothings, was produced by Jack White’s Third Man Records and can be heard on SiriusXM Radio. His new album, joke.joke.joke is currently available on all major streaming platforms.
